Webinar: How to enable a seamless customer experience through the Software-Defined Vehicle (Webinar | Online)

In this webinar, Andrea Sroczynski, Managing Director at SBD Automotive Germany, will discuss the hot topic of “The Software-Defined Vehicle” (SDV) with leading automotive experts from WirelessCar, Giesecke+Devrient and NIO. The panel will cover the following areas:

  1. SDV is a must in our industry, but the consumer does not care about the technology, they just want the right service when they need it.
  2. Across borders, there are highly fragmented environments that make it difficult to deliver a seamless customer experience for connected cars. What are the challenges faced by OEMs?
  3. In implementing the SDV, several OEMs are taking different approaches, from “buy all” to “build all”, while some are taking a combined approach.

Our experts in this discussion:

Michael Heß, Director Domain Automotive at Giesecke+Devrient

Michael started his career in 1993 as a project manager and consultant in the IT sector. From 1997 to 2010, he worked for Siemens AG in various tasks and business areas, including telecommunications and automotive. During this time, his focus was on the development and implementation of new business areas.

In January 2011, he became the manager of the IT systems business unit at ESG Mobility GmbH and massively expanded the business volume with its automotive customers. The main focus was on the Connected Vehicle and the IT solutions that are required to support it.

In October 2018, Michael moved to Giesecke+Devrient Mobile Security GmbH. In his current role as Director Domain Automotive, he is responsible for overseeing products and solutions in the areas of Connected Car and Security. His customer base includes well-known vehicle manufacturers and suppliers worldwide.

Michael holds a degree in electrical engineering (FH) with a focus on information technology.

His statement:

“Vehicle networking is on the rise. Car makers strive to extract all data to leverage it for autonomous driving, fleet management, the digital twin, and more. On the other hand, there is an increasing need to connect the driver. Services on their smartphones are expected to be seamlessly available in the car. The key for success is ensuring that all these services can be used with utmost convenience.”

Theo-Han Jansen, Vice President Strategy & Product Management at WirelessCar

Theo has worked for 30 years in various positions within the automotive industry, having previously held positions with FCA (now Stellantis), Maserati and Ferrari. In recent years, his main focus has been the design, planning, and implementation of connected services and connected sustainable mobility solutions.

His statement:

“There is a lot of discussion on the SDV but much less on what value it should bring for all involved stakeholders. I believe there should be more focus on the “why” and “what” we want to achieve instead of only on the “how”.”

Sebastian Salera, NIO’s Senior Product Experience Manager for Infotainment

Based in Berlin, Sebastian has been NIO’s Senior Product Experience Manager for Infotainment since April 2022. Before joining NIO, he worked at KIA Europe for three years and at Nissan Europe for ten years. During his time with both OEMs, Sebastian held several product management positions in fields including infotainment, connected vehicle services, autonomous driving and electrification. Sebastian is a Chemical Engineering graduate from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya in Barcelona, and a national of Spain and Argentina.

His statement:
“NIO is a user enterprise – and as such we listen to our users very carefully. And our users have spoken: We must enrich our infotainment ecosystem with the help of local European players. Our goal is to do that while maintaining a global infotainment system experience that transpires NIO-ness no matter where we launch our vehicles – and our first European partnerships in the navigation and in-vehicle entertainment domains are a testament to that.”
